That’s someone’s baby,
the child with differences who often eats his lunch alone in the cafeteria,
the waitress who accidentally mixed up your order and put a BLT in front of you instead of the chopped salad you asked for,
the driver of the car in front of you who accidentally cut you off,
the late girl who forgot her locker combination on the first week of school and “disturbed the class,”
and the boy who stuttered through his public speaking presentation.
Because out there is a mom who is worrying so much about her children,
knows the good in them,
and is praying the world will see them as she does.
So, please be kind,
sit with him or ask him to sit with you,
make a lighthearted joke about the mix-up with the waitress because you're not perfect, too,
don’t yell out your window or loudly honk your horn,
give so much grace because we all have forgetful days at times,
and hold your laughter at his nerves.
