Getting married can change more than your last name. It can also affect your taxes.

If you’re married on December 31, the IRS generally considers you married for the entire tax year.

You’ll typically file as Married Filing Jointly or Married Filing Separately.

If you changed your name or moved, make sure your information is updated with the appropriate agencies.

It’s also a good time to review your tax withholding since combining incomes can affect how much tax you owe.

Don’t wait until tax season to figure it out.

Talk with your tax professional now to see what changes you should make before year end.
