There is some misconception going around about the advanced child tax credit. It has increased for tax year 2021 from $2,000 per child age 6 - 17 to $3,000. Half of this can be received as an advance @ $250 per month starting July 15, 2021 through December and the remaining $1,500 in the form of a child tax credit when filing a 2021 tax return in 2022. The payment increases to $3,600 for children 5 and under. $1,800 at tax time and $300 per month July - December.
With this being said, at 2021 tax time the reduction from the 2020 tax year is only $500 per child age 6 and up.

Although the tax season start date has been extended until February 12th, tax returns can be prepared now and submitted on February 12th. Office hours are 10:00-5:00. Appointments can be scheduled outside these hours. Please call (251)866-7343 or (601)466-0719 to schedule an appointment.
