We will focus on the critical years just before and after retirement—when smart decisions can have an outsized impact on long-term security and peace of mind.

Expect to explore the key planning opportunities that often emerge during this window, including income timing, tax-efficient withdrawal strategies, Social Security considerations, and managing risk as paychecks transition to portfolio income.

In addition to the technical aspects of retirement, we’ll address some of the emotional challenges retirees face as they navigate this transition.

Have a friend who isn’t a Wealthquest client but is interested in discussing these retirement topics? Bring them to the event with you!

Lunch will be provided before the presentation.
Register for the in-person or virtual event by visiting our website.

If you’re in your 50s and retirement feels like it’s creeping up on you, here are three things you can do to get prepared:

1. Take Stock of Your Finances
Review your retirement accounts, estimate future expenses, and determine when to begin drawing Social Security to balance immediate needs with long-term benefits.

2. Adjust Your Investment Strategy
Shifting from growth-focused investing to a mix that includes income generation and capital preservation can help protect your assets while maintaining steady returns.

3. Form a Tax Plan
It can help to maximize catch-up contributions, use tax-efficient withdrawal strategies, and fund a Health Savings Account if available to prepare for future healthcare costs.

Integrating your investments, taxes, and estate planning can help you approach retirement with clarity and confidence.

Need an experienced team to help you form that strategy as you near retirement? Reach out to our team today to learn more about our “all under one roof” approach to financial planning.

3 Ways Your Charitable Giving Can Make a Meaningful Difference

Here are three strategies to consider for 2025 to combine world-changing efforts with valuable tax benefits:

1. Donating Appreciated Assets
Gifting stocks or real estate instead of cash may allow you to avoid capital gains taxes and claim a deduction for the full market value of the asset. This can make your giving more efficient while maximizing the value of your contributions.

2. Using a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF)
Contributing to a DAF lets you take a tax deduction upfront while maintaining flexibility to distribute funds to charities over time. Funds in a DAF can also be invested, potentially growing your impact before they are granted.

3. Make Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs)
For individuals aged 70½ or older, QCDs allow you to donate directly from an IRA to a qualified charity. This can satisfy required minimum distributions without increasing taxable income, which can be especially beneficial for retirees.

By integrating strategies like these into your financial plan, charitable giving can make a difference in the world and be tax-efficient, helping you meet both personal and financial goals. And when you work with a firm with an in-house tax department, we help you to find, implement, and ensure proper record-keeping on proactive strategies like these.
