Just FYI.. the more money you make, generally-speaking, the more money you’re required to pay in taxes.. so high-earners please STOP expecting a super high tax refund check if you haven’t done anything throughout the year to lower your taxable income!!!

I’ve made recommendations to make pre-tax contributions to investment vehicles like 401k, HSA, FSA, IRAs, dependent care or transportation accounts etc etc etc and if you don’t do any of this and don’t have the accurate amount of taxes taken out of your paycheck, your refund will not be high..

The goal is to break even anyway.. you don’t want too much money taken from your paycheck because you’re giving Uncle Sam an interest-free loan, but you also want to pay enough throughout the year where you’re not owing anything at the end..

This applies to small business owners also.. the more revenue you make, the more money you’re responsible to pay in taxes on both sides because you are the employer/employee.. so strategically offset your revenue by legit expenses that you incur to run your business and also make contributions to vehicles like Roth IRAs..

It’s important to find a reliable tax preparer and stick with them. Oftentimes, clients didn’t provide certain documents or incorrect information that I know pertains to them since I prepared their taxes over the years, whereas, a new preparer wouldn’t have caught it immediately.. 💞
