Short story:

One of my longtime clients decided to go somewhere else to get their taxes done because they were charging cheaper than I am.

That client contacted me recently and told me that the tax return was done incorrectly by other preparer. Now, the client would like me to look it over and make any corrections with an amendment. 🤔

Long story short: don’t go to “ghost” preparers because they’re charging you less. They are probably going to mess it up (it’s usually a non-certified or non-tax educated preparer using turbobtax software or similar to prepare returns and make a quick buck 💵.

Also, since they don’t sign the tax return, they hold NO responsibility… ask yourself was it worth whatever amount you saved? 🤔 😑

Now that client has to pay me to fix the mess so really they’re paying more 🤷‍♀️ now.
