Applying for a mortgage can be exciting- Yay! You’re officially adulting 😁 But did you know there are a few key things NOT to do before applying?

Below, I’ve listed some common red flags to Mortgage underwriters 👇

⛔ 🚗 DO NOT buy a car
⛔ 💳 DO NOT use your credit card excessively
⛔ 💸 DO NOT make random, large deposits
⛔ 🛏️ DO NOT buy furniture and appliances
⛔ 📑 DO NOT co-sign for another loan
⛔👔 DO NOT change jobs

HOW TO PAY OFF MORTGAGE EARLY? | Tip #1

Wanna know how to pay off your mortgage early? Check this out…Rather than paying your mortgage once a month, switch to biweekly payments. Wait…What?

In theory, you will be paying the same amount each month. However, there are 52 weeks in a year which would be 13 full-sized payments per year through biweekly payments, versus 12 payments per year with traditional monthly payments.

Example:

30-year $200,000 mortgage at 5% interest

Making biweekly payments saves you $34,328 in interest, decreases your number of overall mortgage payments which leads to paying your mortgage out in full almost five years earlier versus traditional monthly payments!

✔️Reality: Having a lot of student loan debt doesn’t automatically disqualify you from getting a mortgage. The key factor is not necessarily the size of your loan, but the amount of your total monthly debt payments compared to your monthly income. This is called DTI. 🧑‍🎓
