Ask yourself, Are your clients sticky—or non-sticky?

The answer can tell you a lot about how predictable your cash flow really is.

Sticky clients are recurring relationships: retainers, ongoing advisory work, maintenance agreements, or long-term engagements. They create a more consistent revenue base you can plan around.

Non-sticky clients are project-based or one-time engagements. They can generate strong revenue, but once the project ends, another sale has to happen for that revenue to repeat.

Neither type of client is inherently better. What matters is understanding your mix.

Because your client mix affects more than revenue—it impacts how predictable your cash flow is, how much ongoing selling is required, and where gaps may show up in your forecast.
