In this article, Jacob Pardue breaks down what dealers need to know and where compliance risks may exist.

Key areas of FTC focus:
• Advertised prices should reflect what consumers actually pay
• No hidden fees beyond government-required charges
• Consistent pricing across all advertising channels, including third-party marketplaces
• No undisclosed add-ons, warranties, or hard-added products
• Rebates should only be advertised when universally available

1099 Alert: Jessica Hetzler breaks down the upcoming changes to IRS 1099 e-filing requirements taking effect in January 2027, including what businesses should be doing now to prepare, avoid filing disruptions, and stay compliant. The transition may seem far away, but advance planning will be key.

Our Memphis team recently welcomed 16 students for this year’s HHM Experience—a two-day opportunity to explore the accounting profession and get a firsthand look at life at HHM.

Students spent time connecting with our team through panel discussions, office tours, client visits, and conversations with firm leadership. The group also enjoyed Topgolf and gave back to the community through a service project at Madonna Learning Center.

A big thank you to the students who joined us and to all of our team members who helped make the experience such a success. We’re already looking forward to our next recruiting event, Something Social, this September!

He highlights:

• Key documents to gather before your audit begins

• Internal controls and processes to review

• Common areas that can cause delays or findings

• Steps to improve efficiency and reduce audit stress

• Ways to strengthen compliance and financial reporting

Preparing now can help your organization navigate the 2026 audit season with confidence.

Each audit season, some organizations treat the auditor’s arrival as an opportunity to gather records. By that time, it is already late. Fieldwork drags, requests stack up, statements slip and the finance team ends up under pressure that could have been avoided. If your year ends June 30, 2026, th...
