💡 Tax Tip #1: Moving into a higher tax bracket does NOT mean all your income is taxed at a higher rate

This is one of the most common tax misconceptions.

The U.S. tax system uses marginal tax brackets, which means your income is taxed in layers. Only the portion of your income that falls into a higher bracket is taxed at that higher rate. The rest of your income is still taxed at the lower rates below it.

In general, earning more money does not mean you take home less. A raise, bonus, or additional income does not cause all of your income to be taxed at the highest rate you reach.

Understanding how tax brackets work can help reduce unnecessary fear around earning more, changing jobs, or growing a business. It also helps explain why tax planning matters just as much as tax filing.

📌 This is general tax education and is not individual tax advice. Tax situations vary based on income, filing status, and other factors.

IRS notifications coming through. Tax filing season begins January 26,2006. Paper filing is on its way out!
What the IRS phaseout of paper checks means for you

IRS is moving away from sending paper refund checks for most taxpayers. The change will improve security, speed up refunds and lower costs.

Here’s what that means for you:

File your tax return as usual.
Expect your refunds by direct deposit or other secure electronic method.
In some cases, prepaid debit cards and digital wallets may be used.
Have your bank information or consider opening a free or low-cost account. Visit FDIC: GetBanked and MyCreditUnion.gov for account options.
This change also applies to payments to the IRS. Continue using current options until updated guidance is shared at IRS.gov/modernpayments.
