🗳️ 2026 MIDTERM ELECTIONS: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW!

📣 Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, 2026!

We hear conversations about politics every day. But how often do we stop to think about the importance of participating in the elections that shape our communities?

🇺🇸 Presidential elections receive a great deal of attention, but midterm and local elections deserve our attention, too!

In fact, many decisions that directly affect our everyday lives are made at the state and local levels.

🏡 Housing and property taxes

📚 Public education and school funding

💰 Taxes, business regulations, and economic policies

🏥 Healthcare and public services

⚖️ Public safety, courts, and local government

We cannot focus exclusively on who’s sitting in the White House while overlooking who’s making decisions in our own communities.

🔎 SO, WHAT EXACTLY ARE MIDTERM ELECTIONS?

Midterm elections take place halfway through a president’s four-year term. They determine who represents us in Congress and include many important state and local races.

🏛️ Here’s how Congress works:

The House of Representatives

* 435 voting members
* Representation is based on each state’s population
* Members serve two-year terms
* ALL 435 seats are up for election in 2026!

The U.S. Senate

* 100 senators, two from each state
* Senators serve six-year terms
* Approximately one-third of Senate seats are up for election every two years

Congress plays a significant role in federal legislation, taxation, government spending, and economic policy.

📌 WHAT’S HAPPENING IN 2026?

In addition to congressional elections, voters across the country will be selecting state and local officials, depending on where they live.

For our New York and North Carolina communities, here are some important dates and reminders:

🗽 NEW YORK VOTERS

🗳️ Election Day: November 3

⏰ Election Day Polls: 6 AM – 9 PM

New York voters will also elect a governor, along with other state and local officials.

📞 IRS PHONE HACK 📞
Need to get an actual person on the phone at the IRS? Here’s a trick that worked for us 👇🏽

1️⃣ Call 1-800-TAX-1040
2️⃣ At the first menu, say nothing
3️⃣ When prompted again, say: “It’s something else”
4️⃣ At the next menu, say: “I have a question about my tax history”
5️⃣ Press nothing
6️⃣ Press 6
7️⃣ Press 1
8️⃣ Say nothing
9️⃣ Say: “More options”
🔟 Say: “Something else”

✅ You should now be placed in the queue to wait for a live representative.

Save this post for later because we all know calling the IRS can feel like a full-time job 😭

We have received numerous reports that the IRS refund tracker is malfunctioning.

It’s currently:
❌ Saying info is incorrect
❌ Locking people out for “too many attempts”
❌ Not updating refund status

👉🏽 HOWEVER — refunds are still being processed and deposited (even PATH Act returns).

So if your status looks wrong, don’t panic 🙏🏽
This is a website issue, not a processing issue. 💼

Starting in 2025 you can deduct overtime on your taxes….that means higher refunds and lower tax bills!

There has been many changes to the tax code from no tax on tips, no tax on overtime and no tax on car loans for individuals. Businesses can take 100% depreciation, have other flexible depreciation methods to use which creates huge right offs. Children have access to Trump accounts! I can go on and on! 🚨 Tax Season Is Officially OPEN! 🚨

The IRS is now accepting and processing 2025 tax returns for the 2026 filing season. You can file anytime now through April 15, 2026!

👉 Important Reminder About Refunds:
If you claimed the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or the Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC) on your return, the PATH Act requires the IRS to delay sending those refunds until after Feb. 15th to help prevent fraud. That means you won’t see those refunds until late February/early March (or even a bit later), depending on when your return was accepted.

💬 About the “IRS Direct Deposit Schedule” people are sharing:
There isn’t an official IRS-published schedule that guarantees exact dates for every refund. What does exist is the IRS “Where’s My Refund?” tool — that’s the official source you should use to check your own refund status. Updates usually show within 24 hours after e-filing.

🔗 Check your refund status here:

📈 General timing you might expect (based on IRS guidance & refund timing estimates):
• Most direct-deposit refunds arrive ~within 21 days after acceptance.
• If you claim EITC/ACTC, refunds typically begin late February/early March.
🧾 Tips to get your refund fastest:
✅ E-file your return
✅ Choose Direct Deposit
✅ Use the IRS tool to check status daily

See your personalized refund date as soon as the IRS processes your tax return and approves your refund. See your status starting around 24 hours after you e-file or 4 weeks after you mail a paper return.
