UNC VITA

UNC VITA University of North Carolina- IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA). Find us online at http://studentorgs.law.unc.edu/vita/ The event is 11/28 at 5 p.m.

This page is for UNC’s Volunteer Income Tax Association (VITA). This is a program where volunteers provide free income tax assistance to low and middle-income taxpayers in Chapel Hill and the surrounding community. We are having an info session in November for people to come learn more about volunteering with VITA! One does not have to attend to become a volunteer but this is a good chance to lear

n more about the organization and ask questions. at Kenan-Flagler room 3050 and the event page can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/events/147630812375134/. The volunteer training orientation to become certified is going to be Sunday, January 22. This will be led by VITA site coordinators as well as a tax professor to ensure that you pass and can assist with tax returns in an easy manner. Clinics for the year will be held in February and March 2017 from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, as well as 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Saturdays. It is recommended that volunteers attend at least three clinics during the year, but there is no required time commitment. The website with more information and FAQ’s is at http://studentorgs.law.unc.edu/vita/. UNC VITA is organized through the UNC School of Law. It is a great opportunity for any student interested in accounting, finance, tax law, or just wants help out in the Chapel Hill community. Law students can submit pro bono hours and other students can receive service hours for the training and clinics. This also would count towards a service learning training through the Buckley Public Service Scholar program.
