Mileage Deductions -
If you are looking for some additional deductions remember you can deduct 56.5 cents per mile for business miles driven in 2013, up from 55.5 cents in 2012. You can deduct 24 cents per mile for medical or moving purposes in 2013, an increase of one cent per mile over 2012's 23 cent rate, and you can deduct fourteen cents per mile driven in the service of charitable organizations, unchanged from 2012.

The IRS has announced a simplied option for claiming a home office deduction for those of you working out of your home. The safe harbor option takes effect this year (2013).

The IRS has put the word out and I am getting calls about filing tax returns for 2012. The IRS says they will start accepting returns on January 30. It may be a little longer for business returns. Those claiming depreciation deductions and certain credits will also have to wait a little longer. I am always available if you have a question.
