What does the Big Beautiful Bill mean for businesses?

100% additional first year depreciation for eligible depreciable property acquired after January 19, 2025.

This means you can deduct eligible expenses in one lump sum rather than depreciating over several years with depreciation schedules.

For some, this may mean a larger refund or a lower tax bill.

How can you take advantage of this deduction?

Talk with your tax preparer to be sure you are getting the best outcome for your tax filing. Be sure to include all documents that relate to the purchase.

Most of all, ask questions! Be sure to understand the elections you choose as it may affect future years.

What does the Big Beautiful Bill mean for you?

1. No tax on overtime (up to $12,500 for single filers).

For some, this may mean a larger refund or a lower tax bill.

Today, we saw a clients expected refund go from $4,500 to $6,000 because of this change to tax law.

How can you take advantage of this deduction?

Be sure to review your W-2 carefully this year. If you had overtime hours it should be reported on your W2. As always, if something doesn’t look right, ask your employer.

The IRS opens for e-file 01/26/26, but you can start client onboarding and uploading documents well before then.
