Are you aware of the 2026 contribution limits for tax-advantaged retirement accounts? If not, we’ve got you covered, with a quick look at what’s changing:

✅ 401(k), 403(b), 457, and TSP limits will increase to $24,500 (up from $23,500).
✅ Workers age 50+ can contribute an additional $8,000 (up to $32,500 total).
✅ IRA contribution limits will rise to $7,500, with a $1,100 catch-up option.
✅ “Super catch-up” contributions for ages 60-63 remain at $11,250.

Now is a good time to evaluate your current savings plan, explore your IRA options, and decide whether catch-up contributions make sense for your 2026 goals.

If you’re self-employed, it may also be worthwhile to review whether your SEP IRA or solo 401(k) plan needs an update.

Need help navigating these changes? Contact us to discuss how you can maximize these increased limits for your retirement strategy.

If the IRS hasn't taken your payment after two weeks, the payment might be delayed, pending, or failed.

You should first verify with your bank, then call the IRS e-file Payment Services at 1-888-353-4537 or 800-829-1040. Check your IRS online account to confirm if the payment was applied, as processing can take 1–3 weeks. IRS (.gov)

What To Do Next:

Wait 7–10 days: It is common for payments to take time to process, especially during busy periods.
Verify bank information: Check your return for errors in your account or routing numbers.

Call the IRS: If 14 days have passed without the payment clearing, call the IRS at 800-829-1040.

Stop payment: If the payment hasn't cleared and isn't showing in the IRS system, you can contact your bank to place a stop payment order. You can then make a new payment via Direct Pay on IRS.gov. IRS (.gov)

Potential Consequences:

Penalties and interest: If the payment failed due to insufficient funds, the IRS may apply a "dishonored check" penalty of 2% of the payment amount, or $25, whichever is less.

Notice of payment return: You will likely receive a notice, either by mail or email, requesting you to resubmit the payment.

Continued liability: The tax obligation remains until paid, and failure to pay could eventually lead to tax liens if not resolved. IRS (.gov)

If you set up a payment plan and it was not debited, do not assume you have skipped a payment; it will likely be processed eventually, or you will receive a CP166 notice. IRS (.gov)
