Happy Juneteenth from Kennard Accounting.
On June 19, 1865, the last enslaved people in Galveston, Texas learned they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Today we honor that history and what it means for freedom and equality everywhere.
As Opal Lee, often called the Grandmother of Juneteenth, put it: "None of us are free until we're all free."
Wishing everyone in the Cape Girardeau area a meaningful Juneteenth.

Have you opened a Trump Account for your child this year? I wanted to share a quick update on what happens next.

Filing Form 4547 reserves your spot. It doesn't open or fund the account right away. You may have had us file this form FOR you when we did your taxes.

Treasury activation instructions were expected to begin in May 2026.
If you opted into the $1,000 pilot program, that deposit won't land until after activation, and not before July 4, 2026.
Hang onto your form and any letters you receive in the mail.

Hi Everyone! Several of our clients have received IRS letters in the last few weeks that they owe penalties and interest when they actually did not-their payments had been processing for months on the IRS end but were already removed from their bank account. We believe these erroneous letters are just being computer generated and unverified by human hands before being sent out. However, any time you receive a letter about your taxes, make sure you send it our way so we can verify it!
The absolute best way to look into this is to sign up for an account through IRS.gov to get a "peek behind the curtain."
If you are currently a client and would like to set up an IRS account but you need help, please call the office and ask for Matt. He will get you all fixed up.
