Time flies when you're having fun...After 12 incredible years, we are happy to watch Betsy start her retirement this Friday. We celebrated her with a retirement lunch and topped it off with a glass of champagne. We are so excited for her and can't wait to see her make the most of her retirement. Cheers!

The cannoli shells are made and ready to be filled. We hope to see you this Monday and Tuesday (11/24 and 11/25) for our annual Shred and Slice open house. Feel free to stop by the office between 10 AM and 4 PM to drop off your sensitive documents for shredding, enjoy a slice of pie or some homemade cannoli, or say hi! Over Memorial Day weekend, Mike had the privilege of organizing the community flag placement ceremony at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks-Griffin Cemetery in Westlake Village to honor our fallen veterans. The event brought together nearly 300 attendees and volunteers, including members of the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Scout Band. We were also joined by Trent, Joe, and Nina in paying tribute. It’s a touching event that helps keep the memory of our heroes alive.

What's better than two days of a retirement plan tax law conference on your birthday? A visit to Nonna’s in San Diego’s Little Italy and eating their cannoli. You might know that Mike is an excellent cannoli maker himself, but after a few visits to his cannoli away from home…he thinks these come pretty darn close! If you’ve never savored one of Mike’s cannoli, come by our annual Shred n Slice this Monday and Tuesday, October 28th and 29th
from 10 AM to 4 PM where there will be plenty of cannoli to go around and have a taste of Little Italy in Calabasas!

Lightning does strike twice! Just after Mike was electrified visiting the New York Stock Exchange this summer, Grant and Trent had the opportunity to tour the NYSE, speak with the founder and CIO of Avantis Investors, and meet with portfolio managers of their funds. It wasn’t all business though. Before hopping on a plane back, they snuck in some sightseeing - a trip to the top of One World Trade Center and a bagel in Central Park on their way to the Met. The whole trip was over in a New York minute.

Did you see it on the 11 o’clock news? While sailing the high seas on August 3rd, Mike heard cries for help from a man treading water twelve miles off the Ventura coast. Earlier in the day, the man had fallen off a boat and several Coast Guard boats and aircraft were searching for him. With a stroke of luck, Mike and his crew were able to rescue him and safely transfer him to the Coast Guard. 10 Years! Yesterday, we celebrated Betsy’s 10th anniversary of joining the Marangola Financial Group. We are so thankful to have her on our team. From her hard work to her amazing humor, she contributes so much to the office. She says retirement is on the horizon, but we are trying our best to get another 10 years with her!

Holy Cow! He did it! Please join us in congratulating Trent Seybold on passing Level III of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exam (the final one). This is a BIG deal! The CFA is the most prestigious and highly respected investment management designation on the planet – seriously. It’s incredibly difficult to get – about 25% of those that start it actually obtain the CFA designation – and takes around three years and over 1,000 hours of studying to complete. We are so proud of Trent and ecstatic to have him as part of our firm. Now, what’s Trent going to do with all his free time? Cheers to Trent – you da man!
