Treasury has launched the official Trump Accounts app ahead of the program’s July 4, 2026, debut.

A few key takeaways:

• Activation emails will be sent in phases.

• Legitimate activation emails should come only from [email protected].

• Treasury says it will not contact families by phone or text to activate an account.

• Contributions cannot begin until July 4, 2026.

• The $1,000 federal pilot contribution is not automatic—you must make the required election.

• There is no cost to open a Trump Account.

The big caution here is scams. New federal programs almost always create opportunities for lookalike websites, fake customer service numbers, and “helpful” third parties to request personal information or payment.

Use only the official app or type TrumpAccounts.gov directly into your browser.

The accounts still can’t accept contributions until July 4. Amid fears scammers could target the rollout, Treasury warned families to use only official channels.

Seeing lots of confusion on this.

The PATH Act (Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes), which requires IRS to hold Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC)-related refunds until mid-February, is *not* a new law. The refund piece took effect on January 1, 2017.

Victims of in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and parts of Florida, Tennessee and Virginia, now have until May 1, 2025 to file various individual and business tax returns and make payments.

The IRS has released the official date to start accepting tax returns. You probably don’t have to wait if you are working with a CPA or tax preparer. A lot of the software programs allow us to submit them and they are held in a queue until the 29th and then they’ll automatically be submitted to the IRS.

Earn income from on-demand work through an app or website? If so, you may be part or the gig or sharing economy. An reminder that you must report income earned from gig work even if it’s part-time or a side gig. This income must also be reported even if it was not reported on an information return such as Forms W-2 or other statements.
