Fire Update - The office will reopen for normal business operations this morning at 10 a.m. We are excited to get back to work after a ten day closure to clean up the smoke and debris left behind by the fire in the building next door to our office. We expect the phone lines (and the schedule) to be jammed for the next few days, and we greatly appreciate your patience as we try to catch up. Special thank yous to all of you who have reached out with words and actions during our temporary closure. We truly appreciate you and your continued support.

For those of you that haven't heard, there was a fire in the building next to ours last night. As far as I can tell, our office did not appear to have any fire damage, but our ceiling was connected to theirs, so there was some concern about that. Shout Out to the Burton fire fighters for their amazingly response and their concern for the contents of the office... and remained onsite late into the night monitoring the situation. We do have a mess, though. There are issues with smoke infiltration and possibly minor water damage. As a result, we will be closed for at least a couple of days as we clean up and regroup. I apologize for any inconvenience this causes. I am heading there shortly to assess the damage in the light of day and will post updates as best I can throughout the day and going forward. Special thanks to all of you that reached out to us last night. Your concern definitely touched my heart.....

Happy New Year... I know I'm a little late this year, but it's not because I haven't been working. We have been in the office all month long getting ready for my 33rd year of tax preparation. The IRS has been accepting returns from our office for a week or so, and today they will finally begin processing returns for refunds. Meanwhile, we are open and taking appointments. The appointment book is already filling up quickly on several upcoming days, so call now and claim your spot before it's taken. (810) 875-9714. IRS released first huge batch of the delayed tax returns late last night. I received text at 11:00 p.m that checks had arrived electronically and were ready to print. Another large batch will be released overnight tonight. For all of you who have been waiting patiently (or not) your time is near.

A 13 hour workday yesterday. I guess that means our 32nd tax season is officially underway. We are here, ready to get our customers the refunds they deserve at a price that shatters the competition. Plenty of appointments are available, but don't delay, the book is filling up fast. We look forward to seeing all of you again.

A few minutes of calm before the storm. When the day is over, I will have finished my 31st tax season. While other tax services have seen a steady decline due to the myriad of other options for filing, we continue to grow, but it's been a long time since I've seen growth from one year to the next like this year. By the end of the day, we will have completed over 10% more returns than last year, by far the most we've ever done. Thanks to all of you again for making it possible, and special thanks to my crew who make every day better than the last.

Here we go, coming down the home stretch on another tax season. Early this afternoon, we will pass the number of tax returns we prepared last year, making this our biggest year ever. And we still have a week to go! Continued thanks to all of you who have sent us your friends, your families, and your co-workers. Now, we need your help to finish strong. Now, I'm going to do something I've never done before: go public with our price structure. So here it is.

Quick and Easy returns - $ 0-60. These are the 1040EZ returns for singles and dependents that have little besides 1 or 2 W-2s.

Basic Short Forms with no itemized deductions, rental properties, or self-employment - $70-100.

Basic long form with itemized deductions, maybe 1 or 2 rental properties, capital gains, and such, but no self-employment - $110-130.

More complex returns, including self-employment, multiple rental properties, multiple capital gains, farm income and the like - $140-$160.

Small business returns with sales or revenue over $75,000, including partnerships, and S or C Corporations, start at $150 and go up according to complexity.

Fees can be paid to us directly, which is preferred, or they can be taken out of your refund, but additional charges do apply for this option.
