At Balancing Act, we love seeing local skills connect with local needs! Mark your calendar, bring your questions, and maybe that project list that keeps getting longer.

Whether it’s a needed repair, a renovation, or that “one day” project, Brownwood’s 2nd Annual Contractor Vendor Fair is a chance to meet local trade professionals, explore your options, and make connections before the work begins. Enjoy food trucks, raffle prizes, and a kids craft room while getting ideas for your next project.

📅 Thursday, November 5, 2026
⏰ 5:00–7:30 p.m.
📍 Brownwood Event Center 🎟️ Free admission

As they say, "Meet the pros. Plan your next project. Support local trades."

A strong community isn't built by one person doing everything. It's built by individuals recognizing that each of us has something valuable to contribute. Some lead. Some encourage. Some create. Some organize. Some support quietly behind the scenes.

Different talents. Different experiences. Different abilities. But every contribution matters. We All Have a Part to Play

Whether you're a business owner, an employee, an entrepreneur just getting started, or someone who simply believes in supporting others, you have a place in helping our community grow.
And here's something worth remembering: You don't have to do it all to make a difference.
When we show up, do our part, recognize the strengths of others, and work alongside one another, we build something stronger than any of us could build alone.

So this Monday, remember:
*Your contribution has value.
*Your presence has purpose.
*And there's room for all of us to grow together.
Strong businesses help build strong communities. And strong communities are built by people like YOU.

As we enter what feels like the 45th day of October...

Yes, the calendar says the 23rd. We have questions. 🤣

Friends, find that confidence one would have as five year old in their favorite superhero T-shirt. Hands on your hips. Head held high. Declare it:

💥 I AM GREAT! 💥 I AM ME! 💥 I WILL SURVIVE TODAY!

The inbox may be full and the to-do list may have a sequel, but we’ve got a Friday to finish...with coffee in our hands!

Happy Friday, friends! Let’s get it!! 🙌🏾

🌿 You Don't Have to Become Harder to Become Healthier.

Somewhere along the journey of building a business, leading a team, or simply trying to make everything work, it's easy to believe that becoming stronger means becoming tougher or harder. Less compassionate. Less understanding. Less willing to give.

But here's your reminder:
Growth doesn't require you to lose your kindness.

*You can establish boundaries without building walls.
*You can make difficult decisions without becoming unkind.
*You can lead with confidence without needing everyone's approval.
*You can care deeply about people without carrying every expectation, emotion, or responsibility that belongs to them.
*And you can recognize when something needs to change without losing the very qualities that make you who you are.

Healthy leadership isn't about becoming harder. It's about becoming wiser.

So, business owners and leaders, give yourself permission to grow, to learn, to rest, and to lead with both compassion and clarity. Because you don't have to lose your heart to find your strength.

The "Networking" BBQ

New favorite genre of online tax advice: "just call your party a business event and write the whole thing off!" 🍔

The plan usually goes:
👉 Throw your normal July 4th BBQ
👉 Invite your neighbors and friends
👉 Say the word "networking" out loud
👉 Deduct the food, the drinks, the decorations, the swag, and ✨more✨

Friend, the calendar invite does not have magic powers. The IRS doesn't care what you named the event. It cares whether there was a real business purpose, and "my neighbor Greg was there, and we talked shop by the grill" is not it.

Real business meals can be deductible. Your cookout cosplaying as a conference is not.

Also: anytime "tax tips" end with "sign up for my masterclass," check your wallet. 👀 Seen this one floating around?

Business owners, someone else’s big announcement is not a report card on your business. Their grand opening, sold-out event, or exciting milestone doesn’t erase the value of what YOU bring to the people you serve.

But we know how easily a quick scroll can turn into, “Am I doing enough? Should I be further along?”

Take a breath.

You’re seeing an announcement; not every long night, setback, or year of work behind it. And while you’re admiring their progress, remember to acknowledge your own.

The customer who trusted you again. The problem you finally worked through. The boundary you honored. The lesson that helped you make a better decision. Those things count, even when they don’t come with a big announcement.

You bring your own experience, creativity, and care to your business. Celebrate others, learn what you can, and give yourself credit for what you’re building, too. This Monday, spend less energy wondering whether you measure up and more energy putting your strengths to work.

Someone else’s success doesn’t erase YOUR value. Keep going!
