📌 Did You Know? Your W-2 May Not Tell the Full Story

Due to recent changes in how overtime wages are reported, we’re seeing cases this year where overtime was not clearly reflected on employees’ W-2s.

That matters, because incomplete reporting could cause you to miss out on a deduction you may be entitled to.

If you earned overtime at any point during the year, we’re asking that you provide your final paystub, in addition to your W-2. Paystubs often contain information that doesn’t always carry through to the year-end form.

Having that extra detail helps us make sure your return reflects the full picture.

Growing with you means being proactive, asking the right questions, and helping you avoid missed opportunities.

The IRS is now accepting tax returns, and over the past few weeks we’ve shared tips around preparation — from accessing your IRS online account, to choosing electronic delivery options, to understanding income reporting and documentation requirements.

Whether you’re ready to file now or still gathering information, that’s okay. Everyone’s situation — and timing — is different.

As filing season gets underway, our role stays the same: to guide you through the process, answer questions, and help things move smoothly at your pace.

Growing with you means supporting you from preparation through filing — every step of the way.

If you bought, sold, received, or exchanged digital assets — such as cryptocurrency — during the year, those transactions may need to be reported on your tax return.

Even small or infrequent activity can have reporting implications, and the IRS continues to refine how this information is disclosed. Keeping records throughout the year helps ensure accurate reporting and fewer questions during filing season.

Growing with you means helping you stay informed as reporting requirements evolve.

You may have to report transactions involving digital assets such as cryptocurrency and NFTs on your tax return.

Income earned through side work, online sales, or payment apps may be reported on forms such as a 1099-K — but receiving (or not receiving) a form doesn’t determine whether income is taxable.

Reporting rules and thresholds continue to evolve, which makes keeping your own records especially important. Tracking activity throughout the year helps avoid surprises and delays during filing season.

Recent tax law changes have introduced new ways for parents and guardians to save for children, including options that can offer long-term tax advantages if eligibility requirements are met.

These accounts aren’t right for everyone, and the rules matter — but it’s worth being aware of them before filing season so opportunities aren’t missed.

Each year brings tax law updates that can affect deductions, credits, and reporting requirements — even for taxpayers whose finances look largely the same from year to year.

That’s why reviewing changes ahead of filing season matters. Small updates can have a real impact, and understanding them early helps avoid surprises when it’s time to file.

Growing with you means helping you stay informed as the rules change. 🌱

📬 Did You Know? — Electronic Tax Return Delivery & E-Signatures Available!

In addition to in-person meetings and paper delivery, we also offer the option to receive your tax return electronically and sign securely online using SafeSend.

Many of our clients still prefer to meet face-to-face and receive their returns in person — and we value that just as much. This electronic option is not required and isn’t meant to replace personal service. It’s simply available for clients who prefer a digital approach or need added flexibility.

💡 What does this mean for you?
• You can receive your tax return electronically
• You can review and e-sign right from your phone or computer
• It’s a secure, convenient option if you prefer not to come into the office or want to save time

We don’t require anyone to use this — it’s simply there for your convenience. If you prefer paper delivery or an in-person signature, we’re happy to accommodate that too.

👉 For a step-by-step guide to using SafeSend for reviewing and signing your return, check out SafeSend’s Client Guides: https://safesendreturns.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/sections/360002247674-Client-Guides
