Our team includes a founder who spent years as a federal employee's spouse navigating benefits decisions, a retired Special Agent with nearly three decades of law enforcement experience who now serves as our COO, a registered nurse whose earlier career was spent helping families work through some of the hardest transitions life brings, and a client relations manager with a background in banking, law, and healthcare.

Each of them came to this work through a different path. All of them bring a people-first approach to it. We understand what federal employees have worked for. And we take seriously the responsibility of helping them make decisions that affect the rest of their lives.

Federal retirement decisions are household decisions. The spousal survivor benefit choice, life insurance and TSP beneficiaries, and Social Security timing all affect a spouse or partner directly.

But in our experience, retirement planning is often something one person handles while the other stays in the background. That can leave a spouse without the peace they need if something unexpected happens.

One of the things we encourage early in the planning process is bringing a spouse or partner into the conversation. Not because they need to understand every detail, but because the decisions we make together tend to hold up better than the ones made alone.

Is your spouse or partner part of your retirement planning conversations? Share your experience in the comments.
