Some useful information on the payroll tax deferral

The IRS issued guidance on the payroll tax deferral ordered by President Donald Trump on Aug. 8. The notice requires employers to withhold deferred taxes during the period from Jan. 1 to April 30, 2021.

The Senate passed a House bill that gives small businesses and other entities that received loans from the Paycheck Protection Program 16 additional weeks to spend the funds and qualify for full forgiveness of the loans.

The IRS and Colorado Department of Revenue have extended the payment deadline for all 2019 income tax payments including 1st and 2nd quarter estimated tax payments to July 15, 2020. Previously, only the 1st quarter 2020 estimated payment was extended to July 15th and the 2nd quarter payment was still expected to be paid by June 15th. This has now also been extended to July 15th along with the other payments.
