If your S corporation or partnership filed an extension for the 2025 tax year, the final deadline to submit your return is **September 15, 2026**.

A few key reminders as the deadline approaches:

šŸ”¹ **Extensions only delay the filing—NOT the payment.** Any unpaid tax may already be accruing interest and penalties.

šŸ”¹ **There are no additional extensions.** September 15th is the absolute final day to file your extended S corporation or partnership return.

šŸ”¹ **Review everything carefully.** Overlooked deductions or incorrect income reporting can slow down processing and may require corrections later.

If you have questions or need assistance preparing your return before the deadline, our team at Kilgore, Brown & Brittain, LLC is here to help.

At first glance, DIY bookkeeping can seem like the most cost-effective route, and many people believe that handling bookkeeping tasks yourself is the most cost-effective way to manage your back office.

However, the real cost of DIY bookkeeping isn’t just reflected in your monetary savings. It is also the cost of your time, the risk of mistakes, and the cost of fixing problems later. Sometimes, the most affordable option is not doing everything yourself. Instead, it’s about having the right level of support.

We can help manage your back office, minimize mistakes, and fix problems before they become compliance headaches. Reach out today, and we can connect on how we can best support your business.

šŸš— IRS Mileage Rate Increase Effective July 1, 2026

The IRS has increased the optional standard mileage rate for business use of a vehicle from 72.5 cents to 76 cents per mile for mileage beginning July 1, 2026.

Businesses and self-employed individuals should separate their 2026 mileage records between the two periods:

ā–Ŗļø January 1–June 30: 72.5 cents per business mile
ā–Ŗļø July 1–December 31: 76 cents per business mile

The medical and qualifying moving rate also increased from 20.5 cents to 23.5 cents per mile. The charitable mileage rate remains unchanged at 14 cents per mile.

Accurate, contemporaneous mileage records remain important when claiming a deduction or reimbursing employees under an accountable plan.
