We are here!

So is the snow we have been promised for the past few days. That doesn't stop the accounting office of James L. Hayes CPA & Company. This is our busy season. Tax season is no time of the year to take a day off when faced with weather conditions prevalent in the northeast United States. Our full calendar of appointments we had today all rescheduled by yesterday afternoon. A prudent measure. Keep the roads open and let the plow trucks do their thing. Our new office is conveniently located at 16 Mount Ebo Road South, Suite 8, Brewster, NY. With an expansive parking lot, our clients can now enjoy their tax return appointment without worry of getting a ticket for parking at a broken meter. While the view from our new office is missing the small-town vibe, it is a winter wonderland no less.

I have a big shoutout for a local business.

I moved into my new office just over two weeks ago and needed some locks re-keyed. I removed the locks which seem to me to be unusual locks. After learning about this particular type of lock on the internet I was left under the impression that without keys I would have to replace the entire locks. I went to Village Lock & Door (https://villagelockanddoor.com/) on Route 22 in Patterson and showed Bobby what I am looking for. He examined the locks and asked me a few questions then went into a secret back room where he conjured up some super secret locksmith magic then came out and told one of his staff a particular keyway and some number. The staffer cut a key with which Bobby was able to remove the core from my lock. Village lock and door had plenty of new cores which fit my lock and set me up with new cores and some keys.

I went into Village Lock & Door expecting to need some new and expensive locks with a long lead time and came out with my own locks re-keyed all in under fifteen minutes. Nothing drilled out or broken - pure professional locksmithing. From here on, Village Lock & Door is the only place I will go to for my lock and security needs at my home and business.

Big changes are here for the office of James L. Hayes CPA & Company. No, this isn’t one of those sappy “New Year, New Me” posts. We have moved.

We are no longer on Main Street in the Heart of Brewster. We are in a much larger office on the outskirts of town. When we first moved in to our inter-war era 285 square foot office at 8 Main Street in November of 2015 it was much more than we needed and served us well for many years since. Last tax season we had five people working in this office at once. We got the job done but it was a little less than cozy. Our new office at 16 Mount Ebo Road South, Suite 8 is 1400 square feet of freshly renovated modern office space. We have spent the past few days moving. Like everything else we do, we keep it all in-house. Why not make the move ourselves? This was not an easy decision. While we need a much larger space, I attribute a large part of our growth and success to the location of 8 Main Street – at a busy traffic light directly across the street from a busy train station. When we did our final walk through yesterday to make sure we didn’t leave any paper clips laying around the stark emptiness of the old office hit me pretty hard. The last eight years of my life was spent there. Time to open the next chapter. We look forward to seeing our ongoing clients and forging new relationships in the new office. Today will be the final day of unpacking and setting up. We will be up and running tomorrow morning.
