Recently a banker client of mine was surprised to hear that I offer payroll services. That is my fault. Yes, we offer full service payroll, bookkeeping, new business set up, consulting, etc. Right now is a great time to drop by with your last year's tax returns and see if I can recommend anything.

Several of my clients have gotten calls from the "IRS" saying that they will be arrested by local law enforcement is they don't pay $xx immediately. Folks, this is a scam. The IRS does not do things that way. Steal your money straight from your account? Yes, but they don't arrest you out of the blue for non-payment. They'd rather have you earning and paying than sitting in jail. If you get one of these calls:
1) Get their name and badge number,
2) Get their phone number,
3) Call or come see me.

Never under any circumstances pay them or give them your name, address, birthday, or social security number. If they were really the IRS, they'd have all of that.

Remember you never have to talk to the IRS yourself. You have the right to properly trained representation.
