The IRS just announced the updated income tax brackets and standard deductions, and luckily, the news is mostly positive for most taxpayers. Due to inflation, the IRS carefully adjusts the income thresholds each year, helping to prevent “bracket creep,” which happens when you end up in a higher tax rate even if your income hasn't actually gone up. In simple terms, you'll need to earn a bit more to move into a higher tax bracket.

For 2026, the standard deduction will go up to $32,200 for married couples filing jointly and $16,100 for single filers. Plus, if you're 65 or older, you might qualify for an extra deduction of up to $6,000.
