Elon Musk’s dream of an everything super Twitter app looks to be officially underway with the hiring of Linda Yaccarino as the company’s new CEO. Her resume which most recently includes former chairwoman for international marketing at NBC Universal gives Musk a seasoned leader in media and digital platforms.

Twitter has suffered a rapid decline in advertising revenue since Elon Musk took over the social media platform last year.

Employment numbers continue to show strength in the economy. Will that strength force the FED to raise rates too high?

US economic data show that consumers continue to spend and that this spending is backed up by a robust job and wage picture. Forget about being in a recession. If it weren’t for inflation, this would be a Goldilocks environment.

I believe our LPL strategist nails it with his commentary from today’s rate hike decision. It’s all about confidence in the Fed!

“After Friday’s CPI report, the Fed needed to prove once again it was serious about fighting inflation,” said Barry Gilbert, asset allocation strategist for LPL Financial. “The more aggressive stance can still be consistent with a softish landing for the economy, but the path is getting narrower. We still think the Fed may be able to back off from its new forecast of a 3.4% benchmark rate at the end of the year, but for now the priority is showing resolve.”

Today's report from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development acknowledges the many issues currently impacting our economy, but it only sees a limited risk of a 1970's style stagflation and recession in our future.

The OECD became the latest international institution to downgrade the global economic outlook -- the result of inflation, the Russian war in Ukraine and COVID-19 lockdowns in China.
