Sell in May and Go Away?

The S&P 500 is up +5% so far this month. Not exactly going according to plan.
As Andrew Murphy, CFA wrote in our May Client Question of the Month: "Let's call this strategy what it really is - systematic market timing."

The May to October period has still generated an average return of +4.03% going back to 1928. The opportunity cost of sitting on the sidelines is real.
