As we welcome a new year, it also means one thing we all know is coming… tax season is officially upon us 🥲

As you start gathering things, here are a few simple tips to make filing smoother this year:
• Start collecting your tax documents early (W-2s, 1099s, mortgage interest, childcare, tuition, etc.)
• If you’re self-employed or own a business, make sure your income and expenses are organized
• Don’t forget about life changes in 2025 — new jobs, moves, dependents, side income, or major purchases all matter
• If you made estimated payments, keep those confirmations handy

🚨 Friendly reminder: There were important updates under the One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) that may impact individuals and business owners this year — especially around deductions, credits, and reporting requirements. These changes aren’t one-size-fits-all, so guidance matters more than ever.

I’ve shared an update on Breton Tax Services (Snow & Breton) on my personal page, and it’s absolutely necessary I share it with all of you who have followed me for a long time!

This past year marked a significant step forward in my business and career as I joined Cohen & Associates, a highly respected CPA firm. The opportunities and resources they’ve provided have exceeded my expectations, and merging my practice with theirs has enabled me to deliver even greater value to my clients—something I couldn’t have achieved on my own. I’m excited for this new chapter and look forward to growing in a field I’m passionate about, alongside skilled CPAs, as I continue to enhance my knowledge and expertise.

After six years of successfully running my own business, I’m ready to take the next step and grow further in the field that has given me so much. I’m eager to learn from those at higher levels and continue evolving both personally and professionally. To everyone who has supported me from the very beginning, I couldn’t have made it this far without you—thank you!

On an educational milestone, I am thrilled to announce my acceptance into Bryant University, where I will pursue my master’s degree in taxation —a dream I have held for quite some time.

🚨 Great news! The 2025 Tax Season has officially begun, with the IRS now accepting tax returns! If you’re still gathering your documents, that’s perfectly fine—it’s still early in the process. Businesses, however, should ensure their financial reports are prepared for the March 15th deadline (s-corps and partnerships).

This a topic of confusion for many businesses. Especially all my self-employed people out here.

Spoiler: creating an LLC does not automatically give you any tax breaks. There are so many things to consider when choosing a correct entity for your business.

Get familiar with regulations and requirements for each. There are fees, there are deadlines etc. It really isn’t as simple as saying “I’m an LLC” - it’s insignificant if you don’t know what you’re doing.
