If you have lost your job and need unemployment tax benefits, please talk to your former employer and see if they would be willing to file for unemployment on your behalf. It is my understanding that this reduces the process by about a week.

Please be aware that the tax filing date has been moved from April 15th to July 15th. All penalties and interest charges have been suspended for this period of time. An extension is still required to filed as part of this process and we will be automatically filing the necessary paperwork for all of our clients that need one. Our office will continue to remain open and we will continue to work extended hours in order to complete as many returns as possible, as quickly as possible. However, we will no longer be opening on Sundays. Please give us a call with any questions or concerns that you may have during this uncertain time and we will be happy to help in any way possible. If you are not a client and need any help filing an extension or need any forms, please give the office a call at 843-757-5110. Our plan is to keep working as long as we are allowed. Every please stay safe and take all necessary precautions to remain healthy.

As an update on on my prior post, the extension of time to pay is not automatic and will require the automatic extension form to be filed. No penalties or interest will be charged in connection with this additional time to file and pay. An extension of time in which to make estimated tax payments is also under consideration.

The Internal Revenue and Dept. of the Treasury have pushed the 2020 tax filing deadline back to July 15, 2020. This is an extension of time to pay and includes the suspension of any interest and penalties. An automatic extension of time to file for will still be required. My office will continue to process tax returns as quickly as possible, but will be cutting back from 7 to 6 days a week. This may be subject to change depending on how the current virus situation unfolds.
