Do you want to give to charity, or do you want to run one?

That's the question Nicole Hisler, president of Raymond James Charitable, says every philanthropically minded family should ask themselves first.

Both private foundations and donor advised funds can be powerful vehicles for meaningful giving. But they serve very different goals. One offers total control and investment flexibility. The other offers simplicity, privacy and fewer administrative demands.

At Peninsula Private Wealth, helping clients align their giving strategy with their values and family dynamics is part of what we do. This piece is a great starting point for that conversation.

Read on to find out which approach might be right for you.

You do not have to be vulnerable to be a target.

Fraud does not discriminate by age, wealth or experience. Sophisticated scams are designed to catch people off guard, often by impersonating someone trustworthy, creating a sense of urgency, or striking during a moment of change or distraction.

If you find yourself in one of these situations, the most important thing you can do is slow down. Legitimate requests can wait. Call back using a number you already know and trust. Reach out to your financial advisor or a family member before taking any action. And if you believe you have been targeted, report it immediately to your financial institution and consult the FTC's identitytheft.gov for next steps.

Awareness is the first line of defense. Here are 10 scams worth knowing right now.

When did you last review who's named as trustee in your estate plan?

For many people, that decision was made years ago and a lot can change. The person you chose may no longer have the time, the objectivity, or the expertise the role demands.

This is exactly the kind of conversation we have with clients at Peninsula Private Wealth. Here is a helpful breakdown of the three qualities every effective trustee should have.

Happy to talk through what this means for your situation.

Thirty is not a deadline. But it is a useful milestone to measure where you stand financially.

Do you have three to six months of expenses set aside if something goes wrong? Are you capturing your full employer 401(k) match? Do you have a Roth IRA open and working for you? Do you actually know your net worth right now?

And perhaps the most underrated one on the list — have you had a real conversation with a financial advisor yet? Not a robo advisor. A person who can look at your full picture and help you build something that lasts.

How many of these can you check off today?

Eight consecutive weeks of S&P 500 gains. Tech earnings doubling expectations. And yet — the Fed is more divided than it's been in years.

May was a month of compelling contrasts: record highs in equities alongside 20-year highs in bond yields, resilient labor markets alongside persistent inflation, and cautious optimism on geopolitics alongside fragile oil supply.

Our latest monthly review breaks down what drove markets in May and what investors should be watching heading into summer.

The Denver team at Peninsula Private Wealth is growing in the best possible way.

Please join us in congratulating Noah and Megan Schindler on the arrival of their son, John Cross Schindler, who was born on April 24, 2026.

While John Cross may be our smallest addition, he's already made a big impact. We are thrilled to celebrate this special milestone with Noah and Megan and couldn't be happier to welcome the newest member of the Peninsula Private Wealth family.

This exciting arrival is also a special milestone for John Schindler, who recently earned a wonderful new title: Grandpa. We know how much family means to John, and we couldn't be happier for him as he welcomes his first grandchild.

Congratulations to the entire Schindler family on this exciting new chapter. Welcome to the world, John Cross!

The exemption did not expire. But the opportunity to plan still has a clock on it.

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act extended the estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer tax exemptions that were set to sunset at the end of 2025. For many families, that brings relief. The pressure to make large gifts ahead of a deadline has eased, for now.

But relief is not the same as readiness. Tax law can change with any election cycle, and the strongest estate plans are not built around what the law is today. They are built to adapt.

The window to act with clarity is open. The question is whether your plan is positioned to take advantage of it.

A well run business does not leave its cash sitting still.

For business owners, cash management is one of those areas that often gets deprioritized until a problem surfaces. But the most resilient companies treat liquidity as a strategic asset, forecasting regularly, maintaining the right reserves, and ensuring idle cash is earning rather than waiting.

The balance between too much and too little is something worth getting right. And the tools available to help, from money markets to securities based credit lines, are more accessible than many owners realize.

The middle of the year is one of the most overlooked moments in financial planning. Year end feels far away, and the momentum of January has faded. But this is actually one of the best times to pause, take stock and make sure your plan still reflects your life.

Have there been major changes this year? A new job, a marriage, the birth of a child, a shift in your estate? These are the moments that should prompt a conversation with your advisor — not a year end checklist.

A mid year review is not just about numbers. It is about making sure what you have built is still aligned with where you are headed.

The penny era is officially over.

The U.S. Mint stopped producing 1-cent coins in November 2025, and while it may seem like a minor cultural footnote, it raises a question worth considering: how often do we let small financial decisions go unexamined?

Idle money, at any amount, represents a missed opportunity. Whether it is a jar of pennies on the counter or an underperforming savings account, intention matters.

For those with spare change to address, the options are straightforward: cash them in, direct them toward automated round-up investing, donate to a cause that matters to you, or hold onto rare coins that may carry collector value over time.

The broader principle is one we return to often with our clients. Wealth building is not reserved for large decisions. It is built through consistent habits and the discipline to never let money sit without purpose.
