Here in Bessemer and across the largest county in Alabama, we don’t just talk about history — we witness it. We are surrounded by leaders whose courage, faith, and commitment to service have opened doors and broken barriers for generations to come.

We recognize Sheriff Mark Pettway; District Attorney Danny Carr; District Attorney Lynniece Washington; Presiding Judges Yashiba Blanchard and Elisabeth French; Retired District Judge Eric Francher, Sr.; Mayor Yolanda Lawson; Alabama State Senator Merika Coleman; and Congresswoman Terri Sewell — leaders whose service continues to shape our city, county, and state.

Their achievements are more than titles. They are testimonies. They are proof that barriers can be broken and that representation changes lives.
