📢 Important New Annual Report Filing Requirements — PA Department of State

Starting January 1, 2025, most domestic and foreign business entities registered in Pennsylvania must submit an Annual Report each year — replacing the prior decennial report requirement.

Filing Deadlines vary by entity type:

Corporations (business & nonprofit): January 1 – June 30

LLCs: January 1 – September 30

All Other Entities (LPs, LLPs, general partnerships, business trusts, etc.): January 1 – December 31

Why This Matters to You

* Keeping accurate, up-to-date business records is mandatory — regardless of whether Pennsylvania sends you a notice in time.
* Missing a deadline may result in losing good standing — and even forfeiture of your business name.
* Filing is fast and easy online via the Business Filing Services portal at: file.dos.pa.gov.

As we step into 2024, we're thrilled to announce some major milestones that will shape the future of JLS:

🤝 **New Partner Admission:**
Join us in welcoming Curtis Mills as the newest addition to our partner lineup!

Curtis joined the firm in 2020 after working for the international accounting firm of Ernst & Young in New York City. He is a graduate of Binghamton University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting (with a Minor in Economics) and a Master of Science in Accounting. While working for Ernst & Young he gained extensive experience in providing audit services to large public and nonpublic businesses. He enjoys working in various areas of accounting and working with clients on a personal level. He has taken an active role in the community; including providing coaching assistance to the Susquehanna PA varsity football team and serving on the boards of Action for Older Persons and Catholic Charities of Broome County.

🌐 **New Managing Partner:**
In this season of change, we're proud to introduce Brandon Sunderlin as our new Managing Partner.

Brandon is a proud veteran of the Unites States Marine Corp. where he served as an infantryman during numerous combat operations in both Afghanistan and Iraq. He joined the firm in 2013 after his military experience and after working for the international accounting firm of Ernst & Young. He is a graduate of Binghamton University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Science in Accounting. He is a member of both the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Brandon is a certified public accountant (CPA) in both New York State and Pennsylvania. Brandon has served in various capacities within the Southern Tier Chapter of the NYSSCPA and is an active member of the organization’s Construction Contractor Committee. He specializes in providing tax, accounting, and consulting services to a diverse group of construction industry clients. In addition to the construction industry, his accounting and tax practice clients include closely held businesses, not-for-profit organizations, and employee benefit plans. He has taken an active role in the community and serves in various capacities on not-for-profit organization boards. While not working Brandon enjoys spending time with his wife, Kelly, and three sons.
