Don’t forget to fall back this weekend!

Daylight Saving Time ends this Sunday, November 2nd, so be sure to turn any non-self-setting clocks back one hour before bed on Saturday night.

While you're at it, it’s a smart time to check off a few other seasonal to-dos:

✅ Replace the batteries in your smoke detectors.
✅ Adjust your thermostat for cooler evenings.
✅ Double-check your security lights or timers.

A few simple steps now can help keep your home safe and comfortable as we head into the holiday season.

📣Important tax reminder📣

If you filed for a tax extension earlier this year, your new deadline to submit your return is October 15th, and it will be here before you know it.

Here are a few things to keep in mind:

🟢You may owe interest and penalties if you have taxes due since April. The extension gave you more time to file, not more time to pay. If you have owed taxes since April, the IRS has likely been charging interest since then. Paying your taxes as soon as possible helps minimize those extra costs.
🟢Don’t assume the IRS will contact you. Be proactive and file before the deadline. If you miss the October deadline, expect a penalty. The IRS may eventually reach out, but you might rack up some hefty penalties and interest by then.
🟢Amended returns take longer. If you file now and realize later that something was missing or incorrect, you can still file an amended return. However, amended returns can take months to process. Try to get it right the first time to avoid delays.

If you have questions about your return, or anything tax related, please don’t hesitate to give us a call. We’re here to help.

September is National Disaster Preparedness Month, a timely reminder that while we can’t always control what happens, we can control how prepared we are.

The statistics are sobering: 40% of small businesses never reopen after a disaster, and up to 90% fail within two years of a major disruption. Whether it’s a natural disaster, cyberattack, or extended power outage, the financial impact can be swift and severe without a plan in place.

Here are a few proactive steps to safeguard your business:

✅Review your insurance coverage, including business interruption and property damage
✅Maintain an emergency fund with three to six months of operating expenses
✅Store key financial documents securely and accessibly (think cloud-based!)
✅Establish a continuity plan to keep essential operations running

A well-thought-out financial contingency plan can mean the difference between recovery and closure. If you need help reviewing your current plan or identifying any gaps, we’re here to support you.
