🌱Spring-in-Review:
People Who Care (PWC) partnered with Red Bird Mission to provide thirty families with "summer blessing boxes" at the end of the term. Student leaders and volunteers worked tirelessly on these boxes for over a month: collecting cardboard, applying for funds through the The Bonner Foundation, ordering supplies such as nonperishable snacks and fun toys for kids, packing each box carefully along with a handmade card, and painting the finished boxes to add some joy to a family's life.

CELTS student-led programs, such as PWC, work directly with established community partners, in order to best serve the people of those communities. What an honor to serve! What a joy to watch our students grow where they are planted!

As Spring 2026 comes to a close, we want to celebrate with a Spring-In-Review! We'll be taking a look back at the many events, trips, and celebrations that took place this semester with CELTS.

Twenty-one students from VEPAC, the CCE minor, and the Foundations of Community and Civic Engagement course attended the KyPolicy (Kentucky Center for Economic Policy) Conference at the beautiful Campbell House in Lexington. We’re incredibly proud of their engagement, curiosity, and commitment to making a difference.

Meet Enock ’27

A Bonner Scholar who was invited by the World Affairs Council of Cincinnati & Northern Kentucky to share his book and Summer of Service experience. He spoke ahead of a series featuring leaders like Jon Moeller (Executive Chairman of Procter & Gamble) and John Pepper (former CEO of Procter & Gamble). These moments were made even more meaningful through his connection with Melissa McDonald, a Berea College and Bonner Scholar alumna.

For his Summer of Service, Enock worked with MAKETANK Inc. He mentored immigrant and refugee youth in the Illustrated Memoir Project, helping them tell their stories through art and writing while building community, identity, and confidence.

Through SOS, Enock has:
• Spoken at a campus art gallery about his journey
• Continued mentoring youth in creative spaces
• Built strong connections with community leaders
• Been featured on Cincinnati Public Radio podcasts
• Attended conferences in Cincinnati and Washington, D.C.

We are so proud of Enock and all of our Bonner Scholars who lead with purpose, uplift others, and create meaningful change every day.

Adopt A Grandparent would like to extend our sincere thanks to the volunteers who participated in our Across Generations: Coffee & Conversations event that being both students and volunteers at Berea Home Village. We also want to say thank you to the Berea Home Village community for joining us in the Arts and Crafts room and helping make the event such a meaningful experience.

The event was a wonderful opportunity for connection and reflection. Participants enjoyed snacks while engaging in a thoughtful letter-writing activity. Our volunteers wrote letters to their younger selves, while members of the Berea Home Village community wrote letters to their past selves. These letters were then exchanged, sparking meaningful conversations and shared reflections across generations.
