Good bye San Diego!! Excellent conference LPL!! Send off evening with Maroon 5. I’ll be back in the office tomorrow (Thursday) clients if we need to catch up. Mostlly on an airplane today so will have limited connecting ability.

LPL Conference update. General session was amazing this morning. LPL, a 36 year old Fortune 500 company with almost $2T managed for 7M families, is doing their first commercial and branding campaign finally, launching a “what if you could” theme with Anna Kendrick!! I freaked out a little when she walked on stage and was live texting the girls in between pictures. So maybe the massive company standing behind me will move up a little from the current 2% brand awareness lol. Really great company that I have to take time to introduce to people whenever I talk to them. Maybe in a year or two 1 out of 10 will have heard the name and continue to move up from there.

Then Lior Suchard, worlds most famous mentalist, stunned us for an hour … guessing names, numbers and playing an insane game with 2 on stage.

Day 1 LPL conference Part 2:

Wow, Melissa Stockwell was amazing and impactful. First female combat veteran to lose a limb in combat (Army officer). She talked about the road from Baghdad to Beijing with an IED hitting her vehicle and losing her leg in 2004 in Baghdad and swimming in the Paralympics in Beiging in 2008.

Two comments really stuck with me:
1). “I only lost one leg” — the mentality and perspective of that comment was stunning — she went on from devastating loss to Paralympian, Mom, author and building a business and a foundation!!
2). “We don’t give ourselves credit for what we are capable of” was another impactful comment I wrote down so i would remember

Day 1 of the LPL Financial annual conference at the San Diego convention center. 3 hour session on Alternative Investments that a nerd like me could enjoy, among other classes. Really looking forward to our keynote speaker tonight, Melissa Stockwell, American war hero and Paralympic medalist! And yes, I dress very comfortably at the conventions lol. Luckily there isn’t a strict dress code so I can wear my Tommy Bahama’s.
