This is important information for farmers and ranchers who have been adversely affected by the drought. In summary, you have four years to replace livestock that you were forced to sell due to drought before you must take the gain into income.

Farmers and ranchers forced to sell livestock due to drought may have an extended period in which to replace the livestock and defer tax on any gains from the forced sales.
