Good morning, Fam!
🗣️🗣️ Hey y’all, hey! To all my business owners with dependents who have their documents ready to file—let’s get it! 😎
As we gear up for tax season, I know everyone’s excited, but here are a few reminders to keep in mind:
• If you’re not in a rush to file or need an advance, it’s okay to wait. The IRS hasn’t announced the official date for accepting e-file returns yet.
• Advance applications: Once you apply for an advance, whether approved or denied, your return is locked with that submission.
• No chair-hopping: Tax prep banks are on top of their game this year and can verify if you’ve already applied for an advance elsewhere.
• Ask questions: No matter where you go, make sure to review your paperwork and ask questions before anyone submits your return.
• Wait for all income documents: Missing a W-2 or 1099 can delay your refund due to income verification checks.
• Clear documentation: Ensure all verification documents are readable to avoid delays.
• To my young adults: Let your parents claim you this year. Trust me, there’s no money in it for you. 😎
Lastly, be ready to answer a lot of questions! As your tax preparer, my due diligence is my top priority this year. Irene Renee Smith (IRS) is watching closely, and I’ve got to make sure all bases are covered.
