Tapestryfp

Tapestryfp Seeking financial advice starts with a numbers based question. But ultimately, you're trying to answer deep questions. Are we okay? Can we do this?

Are we making good decisions? At TapestryFP, we talk about “Weaving Wealth with Meaning.”

Generosity is personal. For many of our clients, it is also a core conviction. At TapestryFP, it is one of ours too.

We make generosity a deliberate part of the planning conversation, not something to glance over or move past quickly. For us, it belongs at the table alongside retirement projections and tax strategy.

That looks different for every client. It might mean giving to a charity or church. It might mean helping your kids or grandkids financially while you are still here to see it. It might mean random acts of kindness or supporting someone going through a hard season. The formula looks different for everyone.

What we do is help you give intentionally and, where it makes sense, tax efficiently. The tax advantages are real, but they are not the point. The point is that your money has a purpose beyond a statement balance. Practically, that can include donor advised funds, gifting appreciated securities, qualified charitable distributions from an IRA, or more structured vehicles like trusts.

We also have honest conversations about giving that go deeper than the numbers. Some clients wrestle with tithing, convinced they cannot afford it. We like to work through that together. Others want to think through what the Bible says about giving freely, without guilt or obligation. The Apostle Paul put it simply: each person should give what they have decided in their heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion.

We are probably not the right fit for everyone. But if a spirit of generosity is part of who you are, or who you want to become, we would love to be part of that conversation.

Not every financial advisor is required to act in your best interest. Here is what that means for you.

The financial advice world is full of titles: financial advisor, financial consultant, wealth manager, retirement specialist. Some of these professionals are fiduciaries. Many are not. Some earn commissions selling the products they recommend, whether that is a life insurance policy, an annuity, or a mutual fund. That is not automatically bad, but it is worth knowing.

The simplest question you can ask any advisor is this: "Are you a fiduciary, and are you always required to act in my best interest?" If the answer is anything other than a clear yes, you have your answer.

Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs), like TapestryFP, are held to the fiduciary standard by law. They are required to put your interests first, always.

At TapestryFP, we are an independent RIA. That independence matters because we have no corporate parent, no products to push, and no financial incentives tied to what we recommend. We are free to look across all of your available options and give you advice that is genuinely in your best interest. We believe that is simply the right way to do this work.

Our advisors who are CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professionals are also held to the CFP Board's code of ethics and standards of conduct, which applies a fiduciary standard across all financial planning services.

Independence also shapes the practical side of how we work. We have no account minimums, and none of your assets move to our management until you are ready. There is no pressure and no incentive on our end to move faster than makes sense for you.

Money is one of the leading sources of tension in relationships. It doesn't have to be.

At TapestryFP, we help couples build a shared framework for managing money together.

That means viewing income as one shared pot, mutual involvement, and making decisions so both partners have an equal voice. We get into the messy reality of money with zero judgment and coach you and your partner to align your finances with your shared values and vision.

We don't just hand you a financial plan and send you on your way. We guide you to build your shared money framework. This work is included in all of our financial planning and wealth management relationships. We also offer a limited 3 month, 7 meeting engagement that focuses solely on this for $1,750.

Research suggests that couples who align and work together on money tend to report higher relationship satisfaction.

If you've ever thought, "How can I get my spouse on board with our family finances?", this is exactly the kind of work we do.

We love helping couples remove money as a source of tension.

What if you could get financial planning, investment management, AND your tax return prepared all for one flat fee you could see upfront?

For some people, that sounds almost too good to be true. Others have never heard of it. And some assume a percentage-based fee is better because it incentivizes the advisor to grow their investments.

Here's the reality: the financial advice industry commonly charges 1% of assets under management (AUM). On a $500,000 portfolio, that's $5,000/year. On $1,000,000, it doubles to $10,000, even if the work they do for you stays exactly the same.

At TapestryFP, we believe your fee should reflect the complexity of your situation and the scope of work we do and not the size of your investment account. We charge a single, clearly stated flat fee in dollars. It doesn't fluctuate with market swings or portfolio growth.

Our Core service, which includes financial planning, investment management, tax planning, and tax return preparation, is $8,400/year for individuals and $9,600/year for couples. You always know exactly what you're paying, and we're never incentivized to recommend strategies based on what grows our revenue.

We like to say it this way: "You do better when you do better."

This is the first in a six-week series on what makes TapestryFP different. Stay tuned each week for the rest.

The end of a car lease creates an interesting financial crossroads.

Most people see three options:
• Buy out the lease
• Lease another vehicle
• Turn in the vehicle and buy something else

When evaluating the end of a lease, I would focus less on the monthly payment and more on the economics of each option.

Questions worth considering include:
• What is the total cost, including financing, of buying out the current vehicle?
• Is a better deal available on the open market for a similar vehicle?
• What are the assumptions underlying the next lease?
• What is the total cost of leasing another vehicle?
• What will I own at the end?
• How much cash would be required to purchase a replacement vehicle outright?
• How much monthly income will this decision require going forward?

The last question is the most important.

A vehicle isn't just a transportation decision. It's a lifestyle and long-term financial decision.

Every recurring payment increases the amount of income required to maintain your current lifestyle.

Every payment you eliminate creates margin. More margin means flexibility.

And in my experience, that optionality is one of the most valuable assets a family can build.

Rather than financing your way into a nicer vehicle, save your way into one.
