- the Internal Revenue Service began accepting and processing 2025 tax year returns -

Per the IRS news release :
"This year, several new tax law provisions of the One, Big, Beautiful Bill become effective, which could impact federal taxes, credits and deductions.

Taxpayers have until Wednesday, April 15, 2026, to file their 2025 tax returns and pay any tax due. The IRS expects to receive about 164 million individual income tax returns this year, with most taxpayers filing electronically."

April 15th - deadline for 2025 tax returns

The IRS has announced that Monday, January 26, 2026, is the opening day of the 2026 income tax filing season. This is the date when the IRS officially begins accepting and processing 2025 federal income tax returns.

However, because filing season opens on January 26 does not mean that all forms and schedules will be available by that date. Announcement TBD
