Tax season officially begins January 24th (my birthday)! IRS will begin accepting 2021 tax returns on this date. However, millions of tax returns from prior years are still being processed by the IRS.

The IRS is still dealing with backups in processing returns from the past two filing seasons.

**TAX UPDATE** Advanced child tax credit payments have ended as of Jan 1, 2022. Congress will restart negotiations on the proposed Build Back Better bill this week. On Dec 19, Senator Manchin stated he would not support the current version, claiming that the bill was too large.

The West Virginia Democrat stayed in touch with senior White House officials over the holidays.
