Key Responsibilities:

• Answer and route incoming phone calls
• Greet and assist clients who visit the office
• Perform general secretarial duties, including filing, scanning and document preparation
• Provide administrative support to the other team members as needed
• Help alleviate the workload of colleagues by taking on various day-to-day tasks

This position enjoys a flexible work schedule, PTO time and a retirement plan.

The ideal applicant will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, be detailed-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Previous experience in an administrative role, especially if in a CPA firm, would be helpful, but is not required.

IRS Final Reminder: May 17 Deadline to Claim $1B in Tax Refunds From 2020

The IRS reminded the 1 million people who didn't file taxes in year 2020 they may be eligible for a refund if they file by the May 17 deadline. (IR 2024-133, 5/6/2024)

The IRS estimates more than $1 billion in refunds remain unclaimed because taxpayers haven't filed their 2020 tax returns yet. A state-by-state accounting of taxpayers with unfiled returns can be found in the IRS' news release.

There's no penalty for failure to file if a refund is due. However, a return claiming a refund must be filed within three years of its due date for a refund to be allowed.

The 2020 filing deadline was pushed to May 17 due to COVID-19, making the three-year window deadline for 2020 unfiled returns May 17, 2024. The IRS issued Notice 2023-21 on February 27, 2023, providing legal guidance on claims required by the postponed deadline.

Taxpayers may be eligible for more.

By not filing taxpayers could be missing out credits, including Earned Income Tax Credit, the Recovery Rebate Credit, or others credits that may be applicable.
