The Internal Revenue Service announced Monday, January 26, 2026, as the opening of the nation’s 2026 filing season.
Taxpayers have until Wednesday, April 15, 2026, to file their 2025 tax returns and pay any tax due.
Although the IRS will not officially begin accepting and processing tax returns until Jan. 26, you do not need to wait until then to work on your taxes, if you need help getting started with your tax return, do not hesitate to reach out for an appointment.
If you claim the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or the Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC), you can expect to get your refund by March 3 if:
* You file your return online
* You choose to get your refund by direct deposit
* The IRS found no issues with your return
However, some taxpayers may see their refunds a few days earlier. Check Where’s My Refund for your personalized refund date. Where's My Refund should show an updated status by February 22 for most early EITC/ACTC filers.
