Did you know your tax refund will be delayed this year if you are claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit and/or Additional Child Tax Credit?

It's called The PATH Act, Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes. Section 201 of this new law mandates that no credit or refund for an overpayment for a taxable year shall be made to a taxpayer before February 15th, if the taxpayer claimed the Earned Income Tax Credit or Additional Child Tax Credit on the return.

The first day the IRS will begin accepting returns is January 23rd, so you should still file your return as you normally do. No need to wait! Your return can still be processed!

The IRS still expects to issue most refunds in less than 21 days. However, the IRS cautions taxpayers that these refunds likely won’t arrive in bank accounts or on cards until the week of February 27th.
