🚨 Scam Alert: Phishing Texts Claiming to Be from “Texas Franchise Tax Board” 🚨

Mansfield residents, be extremely cautious of any text messages claiming to be from the “Texas Franchise Tax Board” about a refund. This is a known phishing scam designed to steal your personal and financial information.

Important facts to know:
❌ It’s a scam: Do not click any links, reply, or provide personal information.
❌ Texas Comptroller does not contact taxpayers this way: The official agency will never ask for sensitive information via text.
❌ Malicious links: Scammers often include links to fake websites to capture your personal details, credit card info, or banking information.
❌ Impersonation can vary: Some texts may mention the California Franchise Tax Board, but they are still fraudulent for Texas residents.

What to do if you receive a suspicious text:
✔️ Delete it immediately – do not click or reply.
✔️ Report it: Forward the message or send a screenshot to the Texas Comptroller at [email protected]. You can also report it to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov
✔️ Verify refunds through official sources: Contact the Texas Comptroller directly using verified phone numbers or secure websites.

Here's the new W2 for 2026 thanks to OB3!

The IRS released a draft W-2 form for 2026 on Aug. 15 that takes into account tax provisions in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act for deductions related to tip income and overtime pay.
