🚨 Stop Refreshing “Where’s My Refund”… Check Your Transcript Instead
If you’ve already filed your taxes, your IRS Account Transcript is one of the most reliable tools to monitor refund progress and timing.
📌 Here’s how to check your transcript:
1️⃣ Go to IRS.gov
2️⃣ Sign in or create an account through ID.me
3️⃣ Scroll to Records & Status
4️⃣ Click View Tax Records
5️⃣ Select Get Transcript
6️⃣ Open your Account Transcript for the current year
🎉 The main code you want to see is 846
That code means your refund has been issued, and the date next to it is your scheduled deposit date.
Common transcript codes to know:
✅ 150 — Return received & processed
✅ 766 — Credit applied
✅ 768 — Earned Income Credit added
⏸️ 570 — Hold/review pending
📩 971 — Notice issued/letter sent
🎉 846 — Refund issued
📌 Transcript updates follow your Cycle Code
The last two digits tell you what day your account typically updates:
01 — Monday
02 — Tuesday
03 — Wednesday
04 — Thursday
05 — Friday
✨ Once you file, your transcript is the best place to track refund updates and timing — often faster than other refund tools.
