Year one is in the books! (No pun intended.)

Like most typical accountants, I tend to lean towards a more pessimistic outlook. So needless to say, this past year has far surpassed my expectations.

It had its ups and downs, but the support and encouragement I received from family, friends, and the local business community got me through it.

So as 2024 concludes, I’d like to just express my gratitude once again for all of those that helped make year one such a success.

Professionally, there probably has not been a year that I have looked forward to more so than 2024. (Well, perhaps rivaled by the year I started my internship, but I was just an eager, young whippersnapper who didn’t know any better. 😂)

I met with a prospective client today at their office and out of everything we talked about, their biggest takeaway? “I really like that you showed up here wearing vans.”

A common catchphrase nowadays in public accounting is “we’re not your grandfather’s CPA firm” … Well I think I really live up to that. Unless your grandfather wore vans of course.

Side note, does this mean I could write off my shoes if I get the engagement? I’ll ask my tax accountant…

INAUGURAL POST 🎉🍾

At this point most of you know who I am and what I do, but I thought for my first post I should give some insight into why I do it.

Which is actually quite simple: I enjoy it. I had no way of knowing for sure that would be the case all those years ago when choosing this career path, but thankfully, here we are. I fully embrace the “accounting nerd” identity and have a passion for helping clients find and understand solutions to unique tax / financial issues. I plan for those two things to be part of the foundation my practice is built on.
