Wow it is already November! I wanted to touch base and let everyone know, first I am ok. I fell and got a nasty concussion and a large hematoma on the side of my head. It happened a few weeks ago and I am still healing. I have been at the office off and on, but my brain would shut down so I would need to take a break and do something else, then go back and work a little more.
I can tell I am getting better, just still dizzy, cant drive, oh and did I say I cant drive. Haha Well at least my sense of humor is still there. I told the nurses in the ER I am a tiger, cause tigers bounce. They all looked at me like what??? Yep my head actually bounced on the kitchen floor.
My hours might be short at the office but I am working in taxes again. Thanks for understanding and forgiveness from the office.

Updated Deadlines

The new deadline to file an initial, updated, and/ or corrected BOI report is now March 21, 2025. FinCEN will provide an update before then of any further modification of this deadline, recognizing that reporting companies may need additional time to comply with their BOI reporting obligations once this update is provided

For more information:

Yesterday the US Supreme Court issued an order reviving the CTA and it's BOI reporting requirements. This decision reverses the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals Dec 26 stay enforcement of the BOI reporting mandate.

The Supreme Courts decision allows enforcement of the CTA to proceed until the 5th Court rules on its constitutionality. The CTA will remain in effect while the Supreme Court considers any future appeals related to the case.
No deadline has been posted at this time.

I sent out a Christmas letter regarding the BOI (Beneficial Ownership Information) reporting on FinCEN under the CTA (Corporate Transparency Act). Well we have been on quite the roller coaster. First it had to be reported by January 1st 2025 for exciting businesses, prior to 2024. Then finally a lawsuit saying this was unconstitutional for the Nation.

Then on December 23rd, 2024 the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals reinstated the January 1st, 2025 deadline.

Then later the next day they changed the deadline:
1. BOI Reporting Deadlines Extended
Following the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals' decision on December 23, 2024, reinstating the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA), FinCEN has issued updated deadlines for BOI reporting:
• Reporting companies created or registered before January 1, 2024: Deadline extended to January 13, 2025 (previously January 1, 2025).
• Reporting companies created or registered between September 4, 2024, and December 23, 2024: Deadline extended to January 13, 2025.
• Reporting companies created or registered between December 3, 2024, and December 23, 2024: Deadline extended by 21 days from their original deadline.
• Reporting companies created or registered on or after January 1, 2025: Must file within 30 days of their creation or registration.
• Disaster Relief Extensions: Companies qualifying for disaster relief may have deadlines that extend beyond January 13, 2025, and should follow the later date.

As of, December 27, 2024, at 9:30 ET, here is where BOI reporting stands:
• There is a temporary injunction against the reporting rule, again making BOI reporting discretionary nationwide.
• If the injunction is lifted, reporting companies formed before January 1, 2024, must file their initial report by January 13, 2025 (unless FinCEN grants another short extension).

So the question is what do you do, for the companies that want me to file, I can go on my forms and start to set it up... SO if they decide it is required we are ready to go. This is just crazy what is going on. How is the average person, let alone those of us in the field, suppose to keep track. I will do my best to watch this for you.

Merry Christmas!!!

So sorry I have been absent this year. I had a terrible accident in April and I am still healing. I fell in the sand outside of our house and ended up with a spiral fracture in the upper arm. My arm was completely unattached. Then my shoulder was dislocated. After 5 days I had surgery, that lasted about 4 hours.

I will try to be better this year!
Wishing all of you a prosperous New Year!
Sharon

Hi everyone! I thought I needed to update you on the latest excitement happening. I have a feeling that .maybe some bad luck has been waved my way. August 2023 I got hit with heat stroke/exhaustion. Heart doctor said no damage, but evertime i went out side i would start feeling nautious, sick, weak. Dec 2023 Cody had surgery, he is doing great. Best decision made. Then tax season hit. Still not recovered from the heat stroke/exhaustion. Yep Now Dewey had to have surgery right away April 17th. So no sleep for me. He is doing great after the surgery except for his knee really hurts (not related).

Now comes the next part of the story. I was really tired and Dewey called, goat was out. Without thinking, I through on my clothes and went out to help. Ok I grew up on a farm. If an animal is out and you have to fix the fence you move the a imals to make it easier. Which I started to do. I got the grain, opened one pen for them to go into then went back and opened their gate. I started walking them to the other pen when I got tripped and started to fall. Not sure how but I think my elbow got caught in the no climb fence and twisted the arm till it snapped and landed on my back. I was on both knees and one arm. Told Dewey to get Cody. Then I tried to wiggle around to be on my butt and then tried to wiggle my arm to my side.

When the boys arrived I told Cody to call for an ambulance. There was no doubt
Y arm was broke, in two. I ask Dewey were my hand was because I could not feel it. It was behind me, upside down, with the fingers pointing toward me. The EMTs showed up. They were awesome. Had to move my arm around a couple of times to make it so I could get into the ambulance door. I had a ghost hand. It was never where I thought it would be.

Everyone at Advent Hospital ER was great, except a female xray tech who kept shoving the xray board under my shoulder and just kept pushing and jab ing me with it. I had to yell at her to stop and let me try to lift up
I told her you are hurting me. Then I went to CT and those 2 female techs were laughing and goofing off. Now I am starting g to get irritated. Upto this time I was very quiet, no crying, no screaming. They said we are going to roll you over and put this board under you. I am yelling stop. Stop. Not on my broken arm.
Let me hold it at least. And they were still giggling... oh we do this all the time, we got this girl. And that fast they flipped me and my arm went over my head the opposite way that I broke it. Ok, this time I screamed and pretty sure I pasted out. The next thing a remember this nice nurse/doctor was standing over me telling the. DO not touch her. do not touch the board, leave it there, again don't touch a thing. Take her back to the room. Dr Danny came in and said what the hell happened
So I told him exactly what happened. He was made. He told me this time they would have to put me under. My shoulder was dislocated and the bone slide and went up my arm. 5 days later they do the surgery. It was not 1.5 to 2 hours it was 3.5 to 4 hours.

There it so much more to those story but I have written enough. In my mind I should be normal and back to work. Many clients think so too. But the say I still have months to go.

I want to Thank all my wonderful clients that are so supportive and still working with me. I am so very blessed. I am trying to work, but doc told me I need to slow down and let my arm heal. For those that know me understand this just isn't possible. When you own your own company you still have to work. Never have I taken off this my time. But is really is t taking time off. I still go into the office every day 7 days a week. Just am so slow. I am not to use my right arm yet! Aaagghh! Needless to say everything is taking so much longer for me to do and I get so tired.

It is so hard to keep asking my family for help. I am wearing them out. It isn't like me to ask for help. There are many that do not know about the spiral break, and 3 more breaks in the big bone. I am hoping this will reach more of them so they understand why I haven't been calling. I now have a metal plate from my elbow to my shoulder and about 12 screws.

Thank you for reading this! I know it was long. Things like this really make you look at life differently. Hope you have a safe 4th of July

Inside This Issue

IRS increases mileage rate for remainder of 2022

WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service today announced an increase in the optional standard mileage rate for the final 6 months of 2022. Taxpayers may use the optional standard mileage rates to calculate the deductible costs of operating an automobile for business and certain other purposes.

For the final 6 months of 2022, the standard mileage rate for business travel will be 62.5 cents per mile, up 4 cents from the rate effective at the start of the year. The new rate for deductible medical or moving expenses (available for active-duty members of the military) will be 22 cents for the remainder of 2022, up 4 cents from the rate effective at the start of 2022. These new rates become effective July 1, 2022. The IRS provided legal guidance on the new rates in Announcement 2022-13, issued today.

In recognition of recent gasoline price increases, the IRS made this special adjustment for the final months of 2022. The IRS normally updates the mileage rates once a year in the fall for the next calendar year. For travel from Jan. 1 through June 30, 2022, taxpayers should use the rates set forth in Notice 2022-03.

"The IRS is adjusting the standard mileage rates to better reflect the recent increase in fuel prices," said IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig. "We are aware a number of unusual factors have come into play involving fuel costs, and we are taking this special step to help taxpayers, businesses and others who use this rate.”

While fuel costs are a significant factor in the mileage figure, other items enter into the calculation of mileage rates, such as depreciation and insurance and other fixed and variable costs.

The optional business standard mileage rate is used to compute the deductible costs of operating an automobile for business use in lieu of tracking actual costs. This rate is also used as a benchmark by the federal government and many businesses to reimburse their employees for mileage.

Taxpayers always have the option of calculating the actual costs of using their vehicle rather than using the standard mileage rates.

The 14 cents per mile rate for charitable organizations remains unchanged as it is set by statute.

Midyear increases in the optional mileage rates are rare, the last time the IRS made such an increase was in 2011.

Mileage Rate Changes:

Rates 1/1 through 6/30/22

Business rate = 58.5 cents
Medical/Moving = 18 Cents
Charitable = 14 Cents

Rates 7/1 through 12/31/22

Business rate = 62.5 cents
Medical/Moving = 22 cents
Charitable = 14
