After my last post, a few people messaged me asking:
โOkay, youโve got 12 Amex Business Gold cardsโฆ but how do you actually use all those points?โ
Hereโs what Iโve noticed โ most people are using their Amex points the wrong way.
If youโre redeeming for statement credits, Amazon purchases, or even flights booked directly through the Amex portal, youโre usually getting about ๐ฌ.๐ฒโ๐ญ ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ฝ๐ผ๐ถ๐ป๐. ๐ฌ
But the real value?
It comes when you transfer your points to airline mileage or hotel loyalty programs. Thatโs where I consistently get ๐ฎโ๐ฐ ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ฝ๐ผ๐ถ๐ป๐.
Which means 600,000 points could be worth anywhere from $12K to $24K in travel. (Yes, thatโs how we fly international business class for free.)
The downside?
Itโs a pain to do.
You have to dig through different airline and hotel programs, search award availability, compare transfer partnersโitโs basically points sudoku.
Thatโs where tools like points.me and concierge services like GoSomewhere (shoutout to Colin Stroud) come in.
They let you:
๐ Search multiple programs at once
๐ See where your points stretch the furthest
๐ Even have a team help you book it for a small fee
Totally worth it if youโre sitting on a ton of points and want to get the most out of them โ not 0.6ยข at Amazon checkout.
Want to see how I booked my last trip entirely on points?
Drop a comment or DM me โ happy to walk you through it.
Search and book award flights and maximize the value of your points. Travel on points for less with point.me's flight award search tool.
